Why have you written this web site? Can't you just love everyone and what they believe?
I have written what I have written to help myself understand why
I am the only person in five LDS generations to have been shown
by God the truth about the faith of my family since the mid-1800s.
It was VERY hard to leave Mormonism, it's more than a faith, it's
a culture and a way of life, and it's how I defined myself.
It is not my intention to "force" my beliefs on anyone. I would
however like to let you and anyone else who loves God know that
the religion started by Joseph Smith is NOT the Church established
by Jesus Christ! Mormonism is an anti-Christian organization that masquerades
as a Christian religion. My love for you as a potential child
of God beckons me to share God's true plan even while exposing the
cunning exploits of Satan that attempt to lead away the very elect of God.
Yes, I studied and prayed for over three years to find the truth
to which God was leading me. This is a lot more time than the 3-6
weeks we gave our LDS investigators to find out about the "truthfulness"
of Mormonism when I was an LDS missionary in Texas and Brazil from
1975-77.
I didn't start with Catholicism and would never have even dreamed that this is where I would find Jesus.
I started as a Mormon
who dared to worship God in an Anglican Church. I dared to read
the Bible, the whole Bible, and not just those portions that are
useful in supporting Mormon positions. I dared to study and read
the writings of the Fathers of our faith for the first 300 years.
I was amazed and encouraged by the faith of the martyrs for our faith starting with St. Stephen
and continuing through the centuries to our own time. I studied Christianity from the New Testament times
on, taking time to understand the East and the West and why the years 484, 1054, 1204, and 1453 are significant.
I also took time to understand the causes of the bitter divisions inflicted on the Body of Christ
in the West by the Reformation.
I read the Confessions by St. Augustine
and studied the life of St. Francis of Assisi. During this exciting journey I experienced Easter,
really experienced Easter for the first time in almost 40 years of life. Since becoming Catholic
I have made pilgrimages to Constantinople, Germany, France, Rome, Assisi, and the Holy Land.
I have been call a poor soul by some who have taken the time to write me. Let's not
forget that Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
I testify to you in the name of Jesus Christ that Joseph Smith was
NOT a prophet of God, that the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham
are both works of fiction (except for those portions of the Book
of Mormon that were copied from the KJV), that the Catholic Church
is the Body of Christ, which IS His Church. To those of you who are Mormon I say this,
wake up to the awful
state into which you have fallen! God, through his only begotten
Son, begotten before time began and not just in the flesh, has created
you, given you life, and has sent his Son to teach you and redeem
you. Jesus promised that he would be with us until the end of the
world. The Church was born of Jesus on the Cross and has actively been on the earth since
the Day of Pentecost. It was here on the earth before 1830 and
Joseph Smith didn't find it, his loss, and possibly yours as well.
Hear, oh hear, the voice of St. Peter speaking to us through his first letter:
"Realize that you were delivered from the futile way of life your
fathers handed on to you, not by any diminishable sum of silver
or gold, but by Christ’s blood beyond all price: the blood of a
spotless, unblemished lamb chosen before the world’s foundation
and revealed for your sake in these last days."
Glory and praise to you Lord Jesus Christ!
