Is Mormonism a break-away Baptist movement?
American (Northern) Baptists have a testimony meeting the first Sunday of each month that is very similar to an LDS
fast and testimony meeting. (They also observe a day of Fasting the first Thursday of each month.) In fact, the American
Baptist services I have attended are very similar to LDS services, including the administration of the Sacrament. I
believe that many Mormons would feel right at home in many American Baptist congregations.
Did LDS Sunday ritual practice develop as it did as the result of the many early Northern Baptist converts? Isn't the LDS form
of worship a direct result of the times and environment in which it was started? How closely do LDS Sunday services
really reflect those of the primitive church versus early American Protestantism?
